It's Time to Preorder the New Next™ Wi-Fi Sensors
Say hello to a new generation of Monnit Wi-Fi Sensors. Next™ Wi-Fi Sensors are now available for preorder. We've discontinued our first generation—MoWi Wi-Fi Sensors—so you can experience the benefits of the new Next Wi-Fi Sensors.
Next Sensors feature a more extensive Wi-Fi range and stronger signal to send sensor data farther and through more walls within your Wi-Fi network.
Here's the Next Wi-Fi Sensor lineup:
- Next Wi-Fi Temperature Sensor—Monitor area or object temperature with up to a 100-ft. lead (-40°C to 125°C (-40°F to 257°F)) or without (-7°C to +60°C (+20°F to +140°F)).
- Next Wi-Fi Low Temperature Sensor—Measure temperatures from -325°F to 32°F (-200°C to 0°C) in ultralow temperature (ULT) freezers and cold chain processes with a 3-foot lead.
- Next Wi-Fi Humidity Sensor—Track relative humidity (RH) between 80 to 100% and temperature with or without a lead on a preset time interval or sensor Heartbeat.
- Next Wi-Fi Water Detect Sensor—Detect the presence or absence of water in many use cases, such as leak detection and water heater monitoring with a bare-wire lead.
- Next Wi-Fi Water Detect Plus Sensor—Mount this sensor's stainless steel probe with two contacts on a wall or surface to detect the presence or absence of water.
- Next Wi-Fi Dry Contact Sensor—Detect contact between two wired contact points, an external mechanical switch, or a contact plate with bare wire lead cable terminations.
- Next Wi-Fi Open-Closed Sensor—Get alerts when a door, window, lid, or cabinet opens or closes using a mountable lead with a switch and trigger magnet.
- Next Wi-Fi Motion Sensor—Monitor motion and occupancy by people or animals. This passive infrared (PIR) sensor has an adjustable monitoring range of 9, 12, or 15 feet.
Key Next Wi-Fi Sensor Features
- Protocol—802.11 b
- Battery-Powered—1.5V AA batteries (included)

Three New ALTA Products for Many Industry Use Cases
We’re excited to announce that three new products were recently added to our ALTA® Wireless Sensing line. The new products are:
- ALTA Wireless MultiStage Thermostat
- ALTA Wireless 15-Amp Latching Relay Control Unit
- The detachable lead with a Threaded National Pipe Tapered (NTP) Hole Mount for the ALTA Wireless Industrial Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor
With the versatility of the ALTA MultiStage Thermostat, you can set it up to control different heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and up to three heating and two cooling stages. The new thermostat allows you to connect conventional, heat pump, and dual-fuel HVAC systems to the IoT and manage settings in iMonnit.
The ALTA Wireless 15-Amp Latching Relay Control Unit provides two latching relay switches that maintain their position until commanded to change even when the unit is powered off. The new control unit also features four LED indicators to show if the unit is on, communicating with iMonnit, and relay status.
A new 2-inch Threaded National Pipe Tapered (NTP) Hole Mount gives you another installation and monitoring option when deploying the ALTA Industrial Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor. The sensor produces a sound pulse and measures the difference in time between sending and detecting its echo to calculate the distance to an object.

Now Available in India—ALTA Wireless 865 MHz Sensors
The Monnit ALTA® Wireless IoT Platform is primed to help customers in India monitor their most important things over the ALTA 865 MHz radio frequency.
For India, six ALTA Wireless Sensors and the ALTA Ethernet Gateway are available:
- ALTA Industrial Standard Temperature Sensor—Measure temperature between -40°C and 125°C (-40°F and 257°F) with optional leads ranging from 3–100 feet.
- ALTA Industrial Humidity Sensor—Remotely monitor relative humidity (RH) with a +/-3% RH accuracy between 80–100% RH using a precision silicon-based digital element.
- ALTA Industrial Air Velocity Sensor—Measure the difference in pressure (-50 to 50 m/s) between two ports to calculate the airspeed flowing in a system and temperature.
- ALTA Industrial Differential Air Pressure Sensor—Monitor the pressure difference (-500 Pa to 500 Pa) between two ports based on a preconfigured time interval or Heartbeat.
- ALTA Enterprise Air Quality Meter—Detect elevated levels of particulate matter (PM10, PM5, and PM1) that can irritate your respiratory tract and penetrate your lungs and organs.
- ALTA Enterprise Button Press Sensor—Reports through iMonnit data logging and alerts via text, email, or call when you press the sensor’s button. Plus, an LED lights up.
- ALTA Ethernet Gateway—Power it up and plug it into an Ethernet port to connect your ALTA Sensors to iMonnit through the Internet.

Know the Core Monnit Sensor Settings
Do you know how to configure the foundational Monnit Sensor setting—Aware State—and its related settings? When you understand them, you know how our sensors work and are set up for monitoring success.
A Monnit Sensor’s Aware State is its primary operation, allowing a detected condition to be reported immediately. In iMonnit, you can set the conditions and thresholds you want to be sensed, alerted, and logged. The settings associated with this process include:
- Heartbeat
- Aware State
- Assessments per Heartbeat
- Time to Rearm
The Monnit Knowledgebase article, “Understand Sensor Heartbeats, Aware States, Assessments, and Rearm,” explains these settings and how to configure them with examples. You’ll also learn the difference between event and interval sensors and how they operate using these key Monnit IoT Sensor settings.
Take a few minutes to better understand our critical sensor settings so you can benefit from optimized battery life, timely alerts, and valuable data logging.
