The New Generation of Wi-Fi Sensors Extend Your Wi-Fi Networks into the Internet of Things (IoT)

SALT LAKE CITY—December 4, 2024—Monnit announced today the launch of its eight new Next™ Wi-Fi Sensors. You can now order our powerful yet compact Next Wi-Fi Sensors to benefit from a wider network range and stronger signal.

Built on the standard 802.11 b protocol and infrastructure, the Next Wi-Fi Sensor platform will help you receive data from sensors up to 125 feet away through five walls. You'll enjoy the same sensor configuration and management capabilities in iMonnit and enable sensor alerts on your mobile device should a preset condition change.

"It's exciting for us here at Monnit to manufacture and offer a new generation of eight versatile Wi-Fi Sensors," said Monnit Founder and CEO Brad Walters. "Our Next Sensors will help you capitalize on the empowering benefits of the Internet of Things by easily connecting your critical assets and conditions to your Wi-Fi network."

Next Standard Temperature Sensor

Measure temperatures from -40°F to 257°F (-40°C to 125°C) in a variety of use cases like room climate conditions and HVAC performance with the Next Temperature Sensor.

Next Low Temperature Sensor

Monitor ultralow temperature (ULT) freezers and other things in your cold chain with the Next Low Temperature Sensor that measures temperatures from -325°F to 32°F (-200°C to 0°C).

Next Humidity Sensor

Remotely monitor relative humidity (RH) with a +/-3% RH accuracy between 80–100% RH. It uses a high-accuracy silicon-based digital element to produce % RH and temperature data.

Next Motion Detection Sensor

Detect motion and track occupancy to monitor room or area access, optimize HVAC use, and improve cleaning schedules. The sensor uses a passive infrared (PIR) motion-sensing element.

Next Dry Contact Sensor

Detect when there is contact between the sensor's two wired endpoints. Know when equipment is used or if a door or gate is open. Integrate it with a contact plate, button, or switch.

Next Water Detection Sensor

If water pools, floods, or runs out where it shouldn't, the sensor will alert you via text, email, or call 24/7. Monitor water leaks and levels from water heaters, plumbing, reservoirs, and more.

Next Water Detect+ Sensor

Use a stainless steel probe to detect when water is present by completing a circuit between the two contacts at the end of the lead. Get a mobile alert when water is present or absent.

Next Open-Closed Sensor

Detect when a door, window, cabinet, gate, or lid is opened or closed using a magnetic switch and trigger. You can be alerted on a mobile device when the magnet is absent, present, or both.

A Fond Farewell to MoWi™

Last month, we discontinued our line of MoWi™ Wi-Fi Sensors—our first generation. For more than 11 years, Monnit MoWi Sensors allowed organizations worldwide to monitor important things and conditions within their local networks.

We will continue to support our customers using MoWi Sensors. Earlier this year, we provided more firmware enhancements through over-the-air updates in iMonnit for the MoWi Sensors platform to keep them running smoothly.

When we launched MoWi in 2013, we also established our commitment to provide reliable Wi-Fi sensors as another option with our 80+ wireless IoT sensors. We're grateful that our MoWi Sensors were able to lead the way to help customers enjoy simple setup and IoT connectivity through their established networks to collect essential data.

With the solid foundation that MoWi provided and the emergence of our new generation—Next Wi-Fi Sensors—Monnit customers can expect our continued commitment to delivering on your sensing needs.
