Monnit Supports European Cold Chain Standard EN12830
The Europe Cold Chain Monitoring Market will reach US$15.2 Bn by 2031 from US$5.42 Bn today, predicts research firm Market Research Update. This forecast demonstrates the increasing critical value of maintaining temperatures in food and pharma cold chains to prevent spoilage and meet safety regulations.
Monnit data-logging ALTA® Standard Temperature Sensors are used by businesses worldwide to accurately record, verify, and validate temperature wherever their perishable goods go.
These sensors are certified to support the EN12830 cold chain traceability standard for transporters and logistics managers of temperature-sensitive goods, primarily in the European food and pharmaceutical industries.
This 2018 European standard specifies technical and functional characteristics that our ALTA Wireless Enterprise and Industrial Temperature Sensors with three-foot leads must meet to monitor and data log the condition of goods during transportation, storage, and distribution.
The EN12830 certification is in addition to our National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certification and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11B compliance in the United States.
According to EN12830, these ALTA Temperature Sensors primarily comply with the following:
- Class 0.5 accuracy of +/- 0.5°C from -40°C to 50°C.
- Class 1.0 accuracy of +/- 1°C from 50.1°C to 85°C.
- Data-logging integrity, data traceability, and software data security specifications.
- Autonomous operation and independent power supply.
- Sensor housing durability and manufacturing requirements.
Every ALTA Wireless Standard Enterprise and Industrial Temperature Sensor Monnit sells in the UK will have an EN12830 certificate and a NIST accuracy statement. To comply with EN12830, please order Monnit NIST-certified Temperature Sensors from Monnit. The part numbers are MNS2-8-W1-TS-ST-L03-NC, MNS2-8-W2-TS-ST-L03-NC, and MNS2-8-IN-TS-ST-L03-NC.
We invite you to learn more about how we support EN12830 in this blog post and Monnit Knowledgebase article.
