The Google IoT alerts in my Inbox declaim a surge in IoT sales, with consumers at the forefront and a prediction for one-third more IoT devices to arrive on-scene by year's end. Globally, Iran is moving to embrace smart cities while AT&T, IBM and Nokia get together to make IoT systems safer. Apparently, the Internet of Things (IoT) also has marketers thinking 'big' despite the fact that of all this wonderful IoT data we keep hearing about, we're still using only about 1 percent of it, according to AdExchanger.
But with all that's going on in the emerging world of the Internet of Things, we seldom take time to think about the personality behind the magic. As the leader in low-cost, remote monitoring solutions, Monnit Corp. has personality to match.
When asked what he enjoys about working in IoT, Chad in Fulfillment, said, "IoT is the future of knowledge integration with the environment. The ability to know what is happening in a place where you are not. I build the product because being a pioneer is something few people get a chance to do in their lifetime."
Admiring Monnit's new space, I wandered further asking around. Cindy, a four-year Monnit team member in May, tells the Monnit tale this way. "The environment and product are amazing. I love the people. I love what we do."
Frankly, most folks at Monnit are intensely focused with little time to spare. They are also professionals with strong opinions of their own. Christine from sales said, "I like that our sensors can protect the puppy in an RV or prevent catastrophic failures on a production line."
With a diverse background that includes performing in the entertainment industry and audio engineering, Matt from Marketing described IoT in terms of "untapped possibilities to save money, save energy and reduce waste to create a more sustainable world."
"For me, Best-in-Class service means providing a top-notch product every step of the way. Customers learning about the product should have an easy time getting the information they need, both online and over the phone. Anyone wanting to purchase should be able to get their order placed without any hassle. Once the product is in-hand, the customer should have access to every resource they need to make the most of their wireless sensor solution," said Eli working in Customer Service. "There are so many awesome people who call us on a daily basis. It's one of the main reasons I look forward to coming into work."
If that wasn't inspirational enough, Ala from the Software Engineering department added, "IoT allows me to be more aware of what's going on around me. During client visits, I like seeing the 'ah-ha' moments when they realize the capabilities of our products."
Stephanie whose been with the company since 2015, said, "The thing that first attracted me to Monnit was 'family comes first'. I really love that I can really dedicate myself to my job between the hours of 8-5, then go home at night and be Mom without distractions. We have fun, and always have a minute to share a laugh or two. I believe in Monnit and the vision our management has for the future."
"I think the most exciting part for me, is to be able to see the evolution of the product and the company," said Susan in Technical Support. "I’m a geek and I love to see all the new things our sensors can do, and the improvements we are making. We aren’t satisfied with the status quo, we always have a better enclosure, product or software application in the works. It is a fantastic time to be with Monnit."
Reno, the newest member of Monnit's Quality Assurance team said this: "I like technology and the business behind it; I like learning about the latest." There's no end to the personality at Monnit Corp. Stay tuned for more from the Monnit-side of things.
